Horse Trekking at River Valley Lodge combines amazing scenery and the chance to feel the pulse of life in the rural countryside of the Rangitikei District.

Two Hour Ride

This is the most popular ride, allowing you to take in the stunning views of the rural countryside of the northern Rangitikei region. This includes spectacular views of the Ruahine Ranges and Mt Aorangi. This ride is suitable to all riding abilities, particularly people who have little or no riding experience.

Half Day Ride

Fitness Level - 4
Time scale - 4 hrs

Take on more demanding trails than the 2 hour trek. The ride explores the foothills of a major local landmark known as Pukeokahu (Hill of the Hawk) and also gives you the opportunity to experience views of Mt. Ruapehu and the northern Ruahine ranges. Stop at some spectacular viewing points overlooking the Rangitikei River canyon. Refreshments are provided. Suitable for those with some riding experience.
