All of this is wrapped around scenery that never fails to take your breath away. Spectacular mountains rising out of icy blue lakes and lush green valleys, white-topped volcanoes surrounded by rain forest, and snowy peaks making the spine of the South Island for as far as the eye can see.
You have the choice between two packages:
1. Beginner's Pack: Includes ski or snowboard rental, beginner lift passes, transfers to mountain, and professional instruction (x 2 group lessons per field).
2. Experienced Pack: Includes ski or snowboard rental, mountain transfers and full mountain lift pass.
Please note our Extreme Activity Packs may only be purchased alongside a relevant tour. Snow packs do not include clothing hire.
The Remarkables – Queenstown. Wide open trails, native Keas, deep powder, spectacular views, sun drenched terrain and unforgettable runs define this ski-field. The Remarks (as it’s known to the locals) is set in a vast natural amphitheatre high in the rugged ranges at the eastern end of Queenstown’s Lake Wakatipu. With challenges for skiers of all abilities, there's terrain like you have never seen before. For those seasoned powder hounds, if you're prepared to exercise the legs a little, you will discover some of the longest off-piste runs around.
Mt Hutt – Christchurch (nearest major city). Located high in the Southern Alps, Canterbury’s Mt. Hutt Ski Area receives some of the lightest and driest powder in Australasia. It typically enjoys one of the longest ski seasons in the Southern Hemisphere lasting from early June to late October. Close to Christchurch city and with more than 365 skiable hectares, Mt. Hutt offers plenty of variety and every facility for snow sports enthusiasts. A big mountain with great terrain, Mt. Hutt offers an awesome, winter experience for all levels of skiers and riders.
Cardrona - Wanaka. Cardrona is a very popular commercial field renowned among skiers and boarders for inspiring terrain and dry natural snow. With 320 hectares of wide, undulating trails, open slopes, steep chutes and awesome terrain parks, there’s something here for everyone. There are over 20 national and international skiing and snowboarding events are held at Cardrona each year and we will ensure we have access to any events if they coincide with our tour itinerary.
Mt. Ruapehu - Taupo. Mt. Ruapehu is an active stratovolcano at the southern end of the Taupo Volcanic Zone located within the Tongariro National Park. The world’s most active volcano (although don't let that put you off!), it has two ski fields, Whakapapa on the northern side and Turoa on the southern slope. Whakapapa is renowned for its world class beginner facilities whilst Turoa is renowned for having New Zealand's best Terrain Park!
Season: late June - mid October. If unsure of availability drop us an email at info@hakatours.com.
