Half Day Glacier Trek $115.00 NZD
Glacier trekking is considered an absolute must-do of New Zealand, and is actually suitable for all abilities. You are able to upgrade this half day trek to a full day whilst on tour if you would prefer.
Your experience begins at the company’s base, where they fit you out with Ice Talonz boots, and waterproof gear. A 10 minute bus ride takes you to within 3 km of the glacier.
After a short walk through the rainforest, the trip continues along the glacier valley, with your guide making stops to explain about the unique features of the Franz Josef Glacier and the surrounding environment.
You then make our way up the terminal face of the glacier, where pre-formed access ways make exploring the lower reaches of the glacier achievable for most agile people.
Notes
Included: Transport via bus, waterproof jacket and pants. boots and clampons, guides, instruction and commentary.
You will need: Warm clothing – layers are best. Trousers/Shorts that are not denim, waterproof gloves.
