The Lowdown
Glacier trekking is considered an absolute must-do of New Zealand, and is actually suitable for all abilities. We recommend the heli-hike as a quicker way to reach the bluer ice of the glacier, compared with the half day trek.
Your experience begins at the company’s base, where they fit you out with Ice Talonz boots, and waterproof gear. After an exciting scenic flight over 3 ice-falls, you land high up on the glacier and undertake a two hour guided hike amongst some of the most pristine and awe-inspiring glacier scenery available.
You’ll enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and with plenty of photo opportunities and the chance to learn more about this magnificent glacier, this will almost certainly be one of your most memorable experiences whilst in New Zealand.
Notes
Included: Transport via helicopter, waterproof jacket and pants, boots and clampons, guides, instruction and commentary.
You will need: Warm clothing – layers are best. Trousers/Shorts that are not denim, waterproof gloves.
